Take care of your eyes in computer age Technology

Dear Guys In this modern technology and computerized world we use computers for every work and overlook the considerations that can influence our health. More than 50 percent of computer users experience eyestrain, headaches, blurred vision and other visual symptoms. Eyes are one of the important organs of our body and we should never ignore them. Computer vision syndrome (CVS), defined as a complex of eye and vision problems that are experienced during and related to computer use, is a repetitive strain disorder that appears to be growing rapidly.
Causes include:

Concentrating on a certain task for a long period of time.
Poor lighting
Poor Posture
Excessive glare
Extending short distance focusing
Reduced average blinking time
Staring at a monitor for long periods of time.

Symptoms:

Difficulty seeing clearly at a distance after prolonged computer use
Excessive fatigue
Neck, shoulder and back pain
Occasional double vision
Changes in color perception
Eyestrain Blurred vision
Headaches
Red, dry or burning eyes
Increase in nearsightedness
Slow refocusing

Prevention: There is no treatment for eye strain however by opting small changes in your lifestyle you can provide rest to your eyes.

Eye Exercise: Eye exercise is very beneficial to protect your eyes.

10 Commandments to avoid Computer Vision Syndrome

1) Screen Distance at least 25 Inches
2) Monitor Tilt: Keep monitor top slightly farther from the eyes, than its bottom
3) Dark Letters on a Light Background.
4) Vertical location: Viewing area of monitor: 15 Deg to 50 Deg below horizontal eye level.
5) Lighting: Ceiling suspended indirect lighting. Use blinds, shades and curtains to avoid outside light.
6) Neck Posture: Use chair with arms. Flexion (Head tilt Position) causes less fatigue.
7) AC Air flow: Avoid direct flow / draff of air on your eyes.
8) Break: Short Visual Break every 20 mins.
9) Exercise: Blink eyes, a few times Close the eyelids, roll the eyes behind closed eyelids – clockwise & then anti clockwise. Take deep breath and open the eyes while releasing breath.
10) Use lubricating eye drops, as advised by your doctor.



Friends if you are using computers excessively, then have a Regular eye examination periodically. Follow these small tips and gift yourself a healthy eye to visualize this beautiful world.
